DIRECTOR AND LEAD RESEARCHER
Dr. Manisha Shah, Vice Chair and Professor of Public Policy at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, is a development economist whose primary research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of applied microeconomics, health, and international development. Shah is one of the leading global researchers on the economics of sex markets, and also undertakes research focused on child and adolescent health and education. The goal of her research is to identify more effective policies and programs to positively impact health and education outcomes globally. Shah’s work spans multiple countries – including Tanzania, Indonesia, India, Ecuador, Mexico, and the United States – and has been supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the World Bank, and the National Science Foundation among others.

JANINE N’JIE DAVID
Janine N’jie David has over a decade of experience as a nonprofit leader, specializing in cross-sector partnerships with a special interest in equality for women and girls globally. Previously, N’jie David held senior leadership positions at Spark and Plan UK, and holds a Master of Public Policy from UCLA Luskin.

Natalie Bau is an assistant professor of public policy at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. She is an economist studying topics in development and education economics and is particularly interested in the industrial organization of educational markets.
DARIN CHRISTENSEN
Darin Christensen is an assistant professor of public policy at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. He studies institutions and policies that promote investment and mitigate social conflict in developing countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America.
LEYLA KARIMLI
Leyla Karimli is an assistant professor of social welfare at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. She researches the multiple non-economic dimensions of poverty and social exclusion in a global context, seeking remedies at both the program and policy levels.
SARAVANA RAVINDRAN
The Global Lab post-doctoral fellow Saravana Ravindran holds a Ph.D. in economics from New York University. His primary research interests are in development economics, applied microeconomics and health economics.

Carlos Santos is an assistant professor of social welfare at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. Santos draws on diverse disciplines, theories and methods to better understand how oppressions overlap to create uniquely challenging circumstances for individuals.
LATOYA SMALL
Latoya Small is an assistant professor of social welfare at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. Small’s research focuses on health disparities, specifically, the intersection of mental health, treatment adherence and HIV among women and children in the U.S. and Sub-Saharan Africa.
